Pip-Boy Kit Build

Prop Making

Painting, finishing, electronics, videography

Project Type

Customized prop involving electronics

The Pip-Boy 2000 MK VI, or Personal Information Processor, is a portable computer that attaches to an arm. The prop comes from the game "Fallout 76" where the world is set in post-apocalyptic, 50's inspired world. This project was made from a kit which was transformed into a unique build with a distinct paint finish.

After deciding on the color palette, all the parts were prepped for a custom paint job. Additionally, the electronics were planned during this stage as it was easier to figure out the wiring while all parts were disassembled. The screen, "radio", and flickering vacuum tube lights were all custom additions that helped bring this piece to life.
