The capital ship and starfighter models were created for a short film called "To The Stars" which was inspired by the miniature work from "The Mandalorian". The client needed two capital ships, one hero model and the one to be destroyed, and one starfighter for several scenes in the film.

The project began with some references from the client and then some simple sketches were made. Construction of the capital ships began with a foam-core interior structure for a lightweight model with styrene sheets added as a "skin". Details were added by kitbashing found parts. Both models were painted and weathered, and some of the models involved LEDs. Inspiration came from several Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica ships as well as a Sukhoi Su-47 jet fighter.
